Mentors Matter and Communication

After Tuesday's rain out, The Mentors Matters group was ready to get started at Rollandia Golf Center on July 15.
The kids continued to work on iron shots in preparation for the end of the year scramble. Rollandia Head Golf Professional Ted Cremeans stressed how important it is to make good contact with the ball.
After enjoying some subs for lunch, compliments of the folks at Donatos, the kids enjoyed an entertaining team building exercise.
The students were broken into two groups of 14. Each group was given 3 planks of wood and a piece of rope. There were five blocks placed in a straight line about four
feet a part from each other on the grass. The kids needed to figure out how to get every team member across without touching the ground (See second picture).
Communication was the theme of the drill. The kids needed to learn from their mistakes early on in the contest and communicate to their team on how they should improve their technique so they could be successful at the end.
The drill was a big hit as fun was had by everybody involved.
Mentors continues on July 19 at Rollandia.
