Mentors Matter Engage in Team Building Activities

Trust isn't easy, mostly because it's not something that can be achieved over night.

Trust takes time, patience and the willingness to place confidence in the people who surround our lives.

Once it's reached, trust can be a powerful force that can positively impact the lives involved.

This dynamic allows us to rely and confide in people. It means we have someone that we can count on during the good times and the bad, through the celebrations, as well as the disappointments.

This message was delivered to the children of the Mentors Matter program on June 17.

To instill this concept into the children, mentors and their kids were partnered up in a team-building exercise known as,
"Driving the Tank."

To play this game, one person wears a blind fold while the other stands behind them and is responsible for "driving" the other (giving directions). The drivers also had to tell their partners when to stop, and when to kneel so they could pick up ammunition (plush footballs).

The action comes when the "drivers" tell their  "tanks" where their blindfolded adversaries are standing. The guide would then instruct their partner to throw. Chaos ensues, in a fun way.

After the game, the Mentors leaders talked about how the game wouldn't work if the tanks didn't trust their drivers.

The kids also received further instructions from Rollandia Golf Center head professional Ted Cremeans. The kids continued to work on their iron shots while receiving help from their Mentors.
